Dating back to 1815, Beall-Dawson Museum and its neighbor Stonestreet Museum are two sides of the late 19th century.
The Beall-Dawson museum portrays the luxurious lifestyle of that era through this residential home. They’ve got everything from spacious parlors, bedrooms, to kitchen, to tell their story. This house also features a servant quarter designed for slaves brought that served the Dawson family.
Alternatively, we have the Stonestreet Museum. It is a single-room doctor’s office, where you’ll find medical records, old instruments, pharmaceutical supplies, and vignettes. The society saw that Dr. Edward Elisha Stonestreet’s practice symbolizes significant developments in medical science during the 1850-1900s. Their discovery led to a museum that featured the good doctor’s belongings and artifacts from other practitioners in that era.
Research & Archive Work
Montgomery County Historical Society also overlooks the Jane C. Sween Research Library and Montgomery County’s official government Archives. They also serve as the headquarters for the county’s Genealogical society and Harper Center for Suburban Studies.
Their multidisciplinary work and diverse affiliations are pieces of the same puzzle. All they want to do is provide historians and researchers of Rockville, MD, to display the area’s history.
Bonus
Beall-Dawson Museum features a shop that sells history books, resource material for researchers, memorable gifts, and greeting cards. It is a fun way to end your trip to the historical site.
