PROBLEM

A patient we’ll call "Forrest" (to protect his privacy) consulted with Dr. Seifi to find out if she could save any of the teeth another dentist said should be pulled. Forrest was literally in tears that first day because of his pain and worry about getting his smile restored. His situation was so upsetting that it was affecting his family life and his job.

An examination showed that he had a broken tooth and a missing tooth, both in front, as well as other unsightly front teeth. Some of his teeth were infected and decayed. He also had large areas of mismatched dental bonding which further damaged the aesthetics of his smile.
SOLUTION

A big problem was the broken canine tooth on the right side of his mouth. Only a small portion of this tooth remained. The earlier dentist he visited recommended pulling out all of the front teeth, including the canine, and putting a denture in. That wasn’t the path Forrest wanted to take.

With careful study, Dr. Seifi found that the front teeth the previous dentist said should be pulled could be saved and the canine could be preserved with a crown. This crown also served to anchor a bridge for the missing tooth beside it.

Soon, the patient was free of pain and had a temporary crown on the broken canine. At last, his teeth didn’t hurt and his smile was improved. The teeth with dental bonding were covered with veneers.
