Rockville Memorial Library is dubbed as the ‘brain’ of the Rockville Town Square. The state-of-the-art library features a ‘wonder wall’ that allows visitors to use interactive video displays for an immersive experience.
The building also has a glass-roofed portico, awe-inspiring exhibitions, and a collection of 200,000 books in print and digital format. Then there is the inter-cultural language area and meeting rooms that equip library-goers with skills and resources required to meet their professional and academic goals.
Adjacent to the library is the Rockville, MD Arts, and Innovation Center. Designed by D’Agostino Izzo Quirk Architects, it’s divided into three sections.
They are as follows:
The Metropolitan Center for Visual Arts (VisArts) caters to aspiring artists. There they can receive education, professional training, and a platform to showcase their talents. VisArts has an excellent community outreach that serves the residents of Rockville, Montgomery County, and the surrounding area.
Then there’s the Innovation Center that functions as a technology startup for local and international technology companies. Interested companies rent it to operate in a sharing workspace during their incubation period. After finding significant interest and investors, these companies upgrade to the commercial office at the Rockville Economic Development Inc.
Lastly, we’ve got the ‘Rooftop’. It’s a cozy spot for gatherings, musical nights, and community parties. This trendy spot gives party-goers a place to hang out, but it gives them a scenic view of their city.
