Life-Changing Results for a Patient Who Feared Dentists

PROBLEM
A patient we’ll refer to as “Mike” came to StarBrite Dental for help with pain caused by broken, infected teeth. Mike was afraid of receiving dental care so he had really waited until the last possible minute to get help. An examination revealed that some of his teeth could not be saved and had to be extracted. Mike was in his 60s and suffered from a heart problem which limited some of the treatments we could provide.

SOLUTION
Dr. Seifi worked out a treatment plan for Mike to get him out of pain as quickly as possible. Other issues could then be addressed such as replacing his missing teeth and improving the cosmetics of his smile.

Dr. Seifi began by having the unsalvageable teeth removed by our in-office periodontist, Dr. Akmal. There were other teeth that had old, large fillings. Some of these teeth were half-broken, but they were able to be saved and protected from further damage with new crowns.

The next step of the project involved replacing missing teeth so Mike could eat and speak normally. This was accomplished with a fixed bridge in the front of his mouth and partial dentures in the back. At this point, Mike was not only free of all discomfort, he also had a functional set of teeth.

Mike’s next goal was to improve the aesthetics of his smile. While some of his teeth had been crowned or replaced with a bridge or partial denture, his remaining teeth were unevenly shaped and discolored. The fear of dentists that kept him away from dental care had taken a toll on his appearance. RESULT
After years of pain and suffering from broken, unattractive teeth, Mike now had a complete, perfect smile.
